Mucha Collection

The bulk of the Tintagel collection is comprised of one-ounce rounds from the Alphonso Mucha collection minted in 2017. The collection also features rounds from the Amy Brown’s collection of 2017-2018, and the Celtic Lore collection that features the work of Howard David Johnson, specifically his rendition of Merlin.

Mucha was best known for his art celebrating beautiful women. Six of his most well known works are portrayed in the series featured in the Tintagel collection. The series was licensed through the Mucha Foundation (See www.Muchafoundation.org) and produced by Anonymous mint.

Mucha came from humble roots and did not have money for the training he craved to create his art. He spent much of his early life playing music to support himself but preferred painting. His break came when he produced a poster for Sarah Bernhardt to advertise her plays in Paris. His theatre based posters were well received and he began producing advertising posters for others including Job cigarette papers, Ruinart Champagne, Nestles, Lefevre Hill, Ideal Chocolate, Beers of the Meuse, Moet-Chandone champagne, Trappestine brandy and Waverly and Perfect bicycles.

In 1896, he published the Seasons, depicting four different women in extremely decorative floral settings representing the seasons of the year. In 1897, he produced an individual decorative panel of a young woman, Reverie, for Champenois. He designed a calendar with a woman's head surrounded by the signs of the zodiac in the same year selling the rights to Léon Deschamps, editor of the arts review La Plume. The Seasons series was followed by The Flowers The Arts (1898), The Times of Day (1899), Precious Stones (1900), and The Moon and the Stars (1902).

Between 1896 and 1904 Mucha created over one hundred poster designs for Champenois. His posters focused almost entirely on beautiful women in lavish settings.

His popular posters led to his success in the art world leading to his invitation to show his work in the Salon des Cent exhibition in 1896, and then, in 1897, an additional show of 448 works. The magazine La Plume made a special edition devoted to his work, and his exhibition traveled to Vienna, Prague, Munich, Brussels, London, and New York.

The series featured in the DecoFiniti collection includes six of Mucha’s ladies, designed in coin fashion by Julie Lindquist in proof, antiqued and colorized versions. All pieces will be provided with the certificate of authenticity provided by Anonymous Mint as well as the DecoFiniti number associate with the Tintagil collection. The six images of the Tintangle collection include:

Job, Dance, Champagne White Star, Ivy, and Laurel.

JOB

Job is Mucha’s best-known advertising poster. Job is the trademark of Joseph Bardou Company, manufacturers of cigarette papers.

The sculptor was Luigi Badia.

Dance

Dance displays a beautiful woman with long auburn hair swaying in the autumn winds.  Originally, the piece was done in pencil and watercolor, then later released as a color lithograph.

Champagne White Star

This piece was produced for Moët & Chandon light champagne. She is dressed in a pink dress and holds a bowl of grapes. Grapevines surround her.

Ivy

Ivy was created for the dancer, Lygie in 1901. Ivy is intertwined in her hair with a single rose bud displayed on her bosom.

Laurel

Laurel was designed for a front panel of an upscale jewelry store, Boutique Fouquet in Paris in 1901. The image shows a beautifully profiled woman with her eyes slightly lowered

Rose

Created in 1989, Rose is Mucha’s third coin in the six-coin series. The woman shown resembles the flower itself and also has them adorning her flowing hair. She holds roses in each hand while breaking the fourth wall. Another stellar example of Mucha’s depiction of nature's beauty.

The Amy Brown Collection

Amy Brown is considered one of the best fantasy artists of our time. Anonymous Mint created a six coin collection displaying her art in 2017. As part of the Tintagel collection, DecoFiniti features pieces from her limited collection rounds (3000 pieces for proof, 2000 in antique).

The coins were minted at Osborne Coinage in the United States, working with Master Sculptor Luigi Badia, with the standard reverse in Dusk. The proof silver rounds offered traditional frosted designs with mirrored fields. Like the Mucha collection, each Amy Brown piece includes a certificate of authenticity that indicates its number within the limited series.

Red Queen

The first release was that of the Red Queen, the leading fairy of the forest who walks with a staff in one hand and a small pony at her side. She rules over the fairy realm with absolute power.

Lady of the Forest

A more demure, elegant figure featured in the second release as the Lady of the Forest is depicted in her natural environment. With a dress that resembles the very leaves and bushes of nature, she stands amidst a wooded setting.

Second Cousins

A playful and heartfelt design, the Second Cousins release shows that fairies come in all shapes and sizes. While a small fairy with wings stands on a rock blowing bubbles, her cousin, a mermaid, is featured sitting on that same rock.

Discovery

Intrigued by the world around her, the Discovery fair is shown in the fourth design release of the series. In this design, she stands nose-to-nose with a small dragon with her own large wings overpowering those of the small dragon.

Haunted Pumpkin Patch

A fairy stands in the center while ghosts, fall leaves, pumpkins and other Halloween-themed designs surrounding her calm figure.

Wall Flower

Quiet and shy, the fairy known as Wall Flower leaves many questions to the imagination. Her origins are unknown, but she cuts a mysterious figure with flowing hair and wings reminiscent of the flowers that surround her.

Dragon Secrets

The final release from the original collection, Dragon Secrets shows a fairy with a massive dragon at her back. In keeping with the name, the dragon appears to be imparting wisdom to the fairy or sharing a dangerous secret as it rests its chin on her shoulder as if to whisper directly into her ear.
